Dry walling in the rain!

Hello to our followers! Day 2 started off with the group at our Mehle House. While the lucky ones got to move onto dry-walling the walls, the stragglers were stuck with the trapazoidal trap (aka the hallway ceiling). After many failed attempts, Molly, Arkadiy, and Sydney finally hung their babies up to complete the ceiling job (which literally took all day). With help from a local church group, the walls started taking form and a house was being built before our eyes! A neighborhood friend came by and with tears in his eyes told us his story of the tragedy. After professing his love for the parish, he could not stop thanking us for volunteering his time. After building, our awesome bus driver drove us through the lower ninth ward. It was amazing that even five years later there was still little and slow growth, just to help make the point that New Orleans still needs our attention and help. Empty lots and destroyed houses still stand in lots that were once inhabited by families. Lastly we got to see the point where the walls broke which ultimately led to the massive tragedy. After this humbling experience, we are more than ready to set off for work tomorrow! Singing off - sydney “syduction” hyder Inside joke of the day- “Iman, that’s a wrasp!”
